Dealer's Description
Based on the CARFAX report, the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD LTZ has a history-based retail value of $30,380. However, high mileage and past commercial use introduce unique valuation risks.
Evaluating a heavy-duty truck with 228,661 miles requires balancing its strong maintenance history against the physical toll of commercial driving.
Value Analysis & Pricing Traps
The vehicle's true market value is heavily shaped by its high utility and early history:
? Commercial Use Discount: Both previous owners registered this truck for commercial use. Commercial trucks typically face harsher driving conditions, heavier payloads, and more idling time than personal vehicles, which generally suppresses market value below standard retail book value.
? The Bridge Incident: The 2017 accident is listed as "very minor damage" from hitting a bridge. Because it happened nearly 9 years ago and the vehicle has driven over 200,000 miles since, it is unlikely to cause current mechanical issues, but it still acts as a permanent negative mark on the history report that lowers resale value.
? High-Mileage Pricing: At over 228k miles, major components face imminent wear, meaning you should negotiate a buffer below the $30,380 CARFAX value to account for potential repairs.
